Residential Real EstateWho Takes Care Of The Caregiver?
Women especially find it more of a challenge to take care of "self" first. We are heroic at making sure kids have lunches, and husbands have found lost keys and briefcases. Even the cat"s needs are met with food and water before we rush out the door. But who takes care of the care giver? Many of us jump in the car, rushing to our first appointment already out of control, .the first step in a long day of denying ourselves those little extras like breakfast and a few minutes of critical centering to start the next life adventure.
There are some important ingredients needed to help reverse this scenario, and alter your life with more productive outcomes. Below are the steps I recommend to help you begin designing a more joyful and successful life starting now:
To increase your future productivity, track your activities for a few days and note where you are spending the bulk of your current of time and energy. Then examine these time "investments" and you"ll find where you can re-direct yourself for greater success. You can"t fix it until you know where "it" is…
Draw a line in the sand: No one will tell you to take a few precious minutes in the morning or the evening just for you. Close your door, get up a few minutes early and enjoy some quiet time to allow yourself to focus on what it is YOU want to accomplish in this day"s adventure If you don"t respect your time, no one else will, including your family. Before you say this won"t work, just try it….you may be surprised!
Schedule personal time. You can"t keep an appointment you don"t make. Block out increments of time to get those activities done you need to accomplish that bring you closer to your goals, along with other meetings on the calendar. Family night, date night with your spouse, an early morning or evening walk, all become "appointments" clearly marked in your calendar. Your prospects, clients or customers will find an alternative time to meet. If it just isn"t possible, reschedule your activity, but don"t just cancel it.
Take a lunch break – it is perfectly acceptable to nourish yourself during the day, but plan your lunch. If you are dining in, pack a healthy lunch, but plan. We pack on the pounds when we are rushing, feeling starved and hit that drive-through because we are "in a hurry." No one wants to work with a cranky person who just really needs a little lunch!
Life will continue to challenge us with unexpected events, surprises and constant deadlines. The only thing you can control is you, and you are the master designer of your own life. This is a terrific time to begin to allow yourself to create the life you want now…go ahead..you can do it!
